Construction of commercial buildings has become the core business of CYB Construction over the past 25 years. Our team is experienced in commercial construction work of substantial new-build contracts, including office and bank fit-outs, numerous school projects rest home, hotel and motel rooms with over 180 rooms in total constructed over a 10-year period, tourism developments, major retail outlets and supermarkets.

We operate our own large truck-mounted Hiab which we use extensively to transport building components (tilt-panels and pre-cast concrete units) as well as our own 30-tonne crane for on-site use. Our yard has a pre-cast concrete bed which we use for panel and pre-cast unit fabrication.

CYB owns and operates a full range of equipment, including scissor lifts, crawler booms, telehandlers, diggers, acrow props and scaffolding, meaning we are self-sufficient, saving you the cost of hire.

As with our residential workload, we regularly become involved in a project at an early stage. After selection as preferred contractor we work with the designers, consultants and client towards realising the completed project.

Our residential portfolio consists of large, complex homes, often architect-designed. This fits our preference for one-off, individual projects which provide a true challenge. However, CYB also manage smaller residential additions and alterations.

We have been involved in many residential projects on a negotiated basis, whereby we are selected as the preferred contractor at an early stage. We work with the designer, advising on construction issues and play an active role to realise the project.

Our staff has consistently proved its competence. Our infrastructure and a can-do attitude all contribute to the success of the finished project.

We offer a design and build service, whereby we will work from a brief or concept design to achieve the client’s requirements in both residential and commercial buildings. Our projects in this area are often designed by consultants engaged by us, with client input, resulting in a functional finished product.

We lead most of our projects, to see them completed on time and within budget. CYB acts as the main contractor, coordinating and managing all subcontractors, suppliers and labourers.

CYB offers a full design and build service, whereby we take control of the project from day one. We manage the design and consent process as well as the actual construction, right through to final handover.

Our staff are skilled and experienced in dealing with both the Regional Council and District Councils. We invest time in coordinating and collating the requirements to gain Code Compliance Certificates for our projects.

Traffic Management – A number of our staff are trained in traffic management, certified as level one traffic controllers. Three of them hold STMS certificates (Site Traffic Management Supervisor).

We have carried out numerous civil engineering works, including the upgrade of the Otira substation, all concrete work for the Pike River Coal Processing Plant, New Pumphouse for Pike River Coal, underground civil and concrete works for Pike River and Solid Energy (Spring Creek Mine).

Our fleet of heavy equipment, enables us to take on any challenge. The fleet includes three diggers, a telehandler, scissor lifts, a crawler boom, a 30-tonne Kato hydraulic truck crane and a Hiab 477-7 mounted on an Isuzu 8×4 truck.

Our staff are skilled and trained in underground work, as well as working at heights.

Many of our projects incorporate pre-cast concrete components. We have a dedicated panel yard or can set up fabrication on site, dependant on freight difficulties and cost.This gives us the flexibility to manage our programmes and logistics efficiently and economically.
